Planning pin-spot lighting
What a pin-spot does
A pin-spot is a small fixture with a very narrow beam. Where uplighting colors the walls, pin-spots light objects: each centerpiece, the cake, the head table, the escort-card display. In a room lit for mood, they are the reason the flowers still read in photographs.
What to light
Start with what you invested in most and what the photographer will shoot up close: the centerpieces, the cake, the sweetheart or head table. Add the escort display, the bar front or a signature installation if the budget allows. One beam per centerpiece is the usual plan.
Hanging and aiming
Pin-spots hang overhead, from truss, beams or approved points. We will not clamp to a sprinkler pipe. They are aimed once the tables are set, because a table that moves a foot loses its light. That is why a crew in the room matters more here than anywhere else.
Pin-spots with uplighting
Pin-spots are the sparkle on top of the wash. A warm uplight sets the room, the pin-spots pick out the tables, and a monogram marks the dance floor. That trio is the reception plan in the cost guide, from $1,800.
